Vassar and Marist College Students rode down a main arterial around the outskirts of Poughkeepsie with signs and in costumes. We only took up no more than one lane in a multi-lane road. The police made an appearance and said it was unsafe to ride down the street, and made us ride single file down the median (which is illegal) and then blocked ALL of traffic to 'escort' us back to campus. Nonetheless, we all had a great time and the atmosphere was really fun. We hope to make this a recurring event.

When the cops pulled us onto the median, but they were respectful and so were we, they just proved our point better than we could have!
